United States — ANSI/ISEA Z308.1-2021

The American standard separates two independent axes, and confusing them is the most common specification error:

A belt-worn, water-resistant, portable container maps to Type III container characteristics — suited to vehicles and sheltered outdoor use. For genuinely harsh, high-damage environments, such as construction or remote fleets, buyers should specify a Type IV container instead.

The SES03E fill is designed to be extended toward the Class A minimum list on request. A Class B configuration — adding a one-inch tourniquet and a padded splint — is available as a custom fill.

In practice, OSHA 29 CFR 1910.151 requires suitable first aid supplies to be available, and inspectors commonly reference ANSI/ISEA Z308.1 as the benchmark.

United Kingdom — BS 8599-1:2019+A1:2026

The British standard defines three workplace kit sizes plus two specialised kits. One of them is a near-perfect match for a waist pack:

Personal Issue Kit — introduced for lone workers, defined as people whose work takes them away from the main workplace: grounds and security staff, maintenance engineers, cleaners and surveyors.
